Ricardo is a first-generation immigrant to the U.S. from Michoacán, Mexico, immigrating with his parents and siblings while in high school. After 20 years working in processing and industrial manufacturing plants in Southern MN, Ricardo finally followed his dream to establish his own business in Minnesota. When his 17-year employer—Brown Printing in Waseca MN—closed after being acquired by a larger company, it pushed Ricardo, an at-heart entrepreneur since childhood, to take a good hard look at his dream on hold. Spending a major part of his retirement savings and selling his investment properties to make it a reality, Ricardo opened his first La Michoacán Purépecha Mexican treats shop at East Lake Street in Minneapolis in June 2018. Past the start-up stage of the business, Ricardo now owns 5 shops in the Twin Cities metro area and soon more Minnesotans will be able to enjoy the delicious treats served by LMP with plans to double in size by 2025.
