Tim Busse

Mayor - City of Bloomington

Tim Busse was sworn in as mayor of the City of Bloomington on January 2, 2020 – the city’s first new mayor in two decades. Prior to his election as mayor, he served two four-year terms as council member at large.

As Mayor, Tim is especially proud of Bloomington’s Opportunity Housing Ordinance and Affordable Housing Trust Fund, two innovative and powerful tools to maintain and provide housing for all community members. Mayor Busse is also proud that inclusion and equity are key pillars in the City’s strategic plan and that Bloomington is committed to being a welcoming city to all. Bloomington has formed racial equity action teams in city departments, hosted the City’s own Pride Celebration, and facilitated a community-driven strategic planning process. Professionally, Tim works as Government relations manager for SkyWater Technology, a U.S. owned and Bloomington-based semiconductor manufacturer. His career path has included leadership roles with the League of Minnesota Cities, the University of Minnesota, and Construct Tomorrow.

Tim and his wife Heather have two grown children and live in Bloomington with their dogs Jake and Elwood.
